Our resin driveways service

Resin bound surfacing is natural aggregate mixed with a clear resin and trowelled out over a solid base, so you get the colour and texture of gravel with none of the scatter. It is porous, which means rainwater drains through the surface instead of running off it, and it is laid seamless, so there are no joints for weeds to find. The base underneath is what decides whether it lasts: resin needs a sound, rigid surface to bond to, usually fresh tarmac or concrete, and it will follow any movement in what is beneath it. We lay the base and the resin, and we set the edge restraints first so the finished surface has something firm to run up to.

Resin Driveways FAQs

What is the difference between resin bound and resin bonded?

Resin bound is the one we lay: the stone is mixed all the way through the resin and trowelled flat, so the surface is smooth and porous. Resin bonded is loose stone scattered over a resin layer, which gives a rougher, non-porous finish and sheds stone over time.

Can resin go straight over my existing driveway?

Only if what is there is sound and rigid. Resin bonds to the surface underneath and copies any movement in it, so laying over a cracked or sinking base means the cracks come through. We will tell you honestly whether yours will take it or needs a new base first.

Do weeds grow through a resin driveway?

Not from underneath, because the surface is seamless with no joints. Seeds can still blow in and root in surface dirt over the years, but it is far less trouble than block paving or loose gravel.

Does resin need sealing or much looking after?

No sealing. A brush down and the occasional wash is generally all it takes, and because it drains through it does not pool in the way a sealed surface can.
